A Cool Travel Mom Morning Moment

It was just a regular morning. You know those quiet ones before the whole house wakes up — when the coffee’s warm, the air’s still, and I get a little me time to just breathe, pray, and be. I treasure those mornings. They fill me up before the beautiful chaos begins.

I started moving through our usual routine. In our house, two of our three kids take turns with simple chores like throwing out the trash. We’ve always believed in teaching our children the value of responsibility and accountability — not just for the chore itself, but for being part of a family team. We all play a role.

Well, that morning, our two older boys were still sound asleep, probably deep in dreamland. I was just about to wake one of them up and out of nowhere… Our youngest walks up to me — big smile on his face — and asks,

“Mom, can I take out the trash today?”

I blinked. “Wait, really?”

And he looked at me with the most confident, joyful little smile and said, “Yes!”

… I didn’t even know he’d been waiting for this moment. Waiting to be asked. Waiting for his chance.

Apparently, all this time, while his older brothers took the lead, he was secretly hoping for someone to look his way and say,

“You’ve got this too.”

I asked again just to be sure:

“Are you sure you want to throw out the trash?”

And he nodded, no hesitation. Just that same smile — wide, pure, proud.

And when that day came, he didn’t just do it — he embraced it.

With joy.

With confidence.

With so much heart.

No complaints. No need for help. Just a boy on a mission to serve his family.

And oh my goodness — this mommy’s heart melted into a puddle.

I hugged him so tight. Gave him all the kisses.

We laughed. We danced in the kitchen.

That moment reminded me again of one powerful truth I hold close:

Our children are always watching.

What we do, what we value, how we treat one another — they see it all.

And sometimes, the seeds we plant in them bloom quietly… until one day, they just show up with the fruit.

We jumped up and down together like he’d just won the gold medal in the

Chore Olympics — because honestly, he did.

That morning was more than just a chore getting done — it was love in action.

A reminder to keep leading with love.

To appreciate every small moment.

To never underestimate the quiet, watching heart of a child.

And above all — to keep God at the center of every journey.

Because it’s in those ordinary mornings that He often gives us the most extraordinary gifts.

To the other moms out there:
