Tuesday-Sorrow for Sins (Holy Rosary)
From Guilt to Growth: A Mother’s Journey of Patience, Presence, and Prayer
📚 Current Read: How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish
Moms, let’s be real—we’re all works in progress. 🙋♀️ Who else finds themselves stuck in the endless cycle of yelling matches with the kids? Who's guilty of raising their voice when the kids start talking back? 🤦♀️ And let’s not forget that age-old question: Whose patience is really being tested—ours or theirs?
"Mommy, I got made fun of."
"Mommy, did you hear me?"
➡️ "Yes, I can hear you. Go on." (While I’m cooking, scrolling, or watching TV.)
"Mommy, are you listening?"
➡️ "Yes, I am." (Still not really present. Multitasking continues.)
The child pauses. He looks disappointed. Then he says, "Forget about it."
Later, he tries again with the other parent, only to meet the same response.
💔 How would you feel if you were the child?
💭 As the parent, can you see the disconnect?
As moms, we demand respect from our kids, but are we truly showing it?
We want them to listen, but are we listening to them? When we don’t, they start to shut us out, seeking comfort from elsewhere.
I had to face my guilt. I was there physically, but mentally? I was somewhere else. And that realization hurt. But instead of drowning in guilt, I chose to grow.
Love, Appreciate, Empower. 💕 Let’s continue this journey together!
From Guilt to Growth 🌱
Here’s how I started turning it around:
🌟 When my child speaks, I pause whatever I’m doing.
🌟 I give eye contact.
🌟 I listen before reacting.
The difference? They opened up more. They felt heard and respected. And guess what? They respected me more too.
🌸 Growth starts with us, moms. If we want our kids to listen, respect, and trust us, we need to show them how first.
On this journey, I couldn’t ignore the sorrow I felt over my actions.
How often did I let my frustrations, impatience, or distractions overshadow my children's emotional needs?
I turned to prayer, confession, and the Rosary. Just like Christ endured suffering with love and patience,
I knew I had to approach motherhood with grace and humility. The Rosary became my anchor.
🕊️ The Sorrowful Mysteries reminded me to acknowledge my mistakes, seek forgiveness, and grow.
Motherhood is full of trial, error, and faith. I won’t always get it right, but I can always choose to do better.
"Lord, give me the patience to listen, the wisdom to guide, and the humility to grow.
Help me to be fully present for my children, just as You are always present for me. Amen."
