Roadmaps and Revelations: How God’s Wisdom Guides Our Family Adventures
Gift of the Holy Spirit: Wisdom
There are moments in life when the heart is torn in two places—where no GPS can direct you, no itinerary can fix things, and no travel blog can prepare you. One of the most emotionally complex and spiritually revealing journeys my family ever took wasn’t about the destination—it was about the decision.
We had been planning a trip to the Philippines for my cousin’s wedding. It was a celebration I was so looking forward to—family reunions, laughter, hugs from loved ones I hadn’t seen in years, and the honor of witnessing my cousin begin a new chapter in her life. But just as we were about to finalize our plans, I received heartbreaking news—my uncle, who is like a second father to me, had been admitted to the hospital. His condition was unstable, fluctuating like a rollercoaster, and each day brought new uncertainty.
I was torn.
Do we go?
Do we stay?
If I left and something happened, I might not make it back in time. If I stayed and missed the wedding, I would lose the chance to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime moment with family I deeply cherish.
Have you ever faced a decision where both options tugged at your heart? How did you navigate it?

In that painful in-between space, I did the only thing I knew to do: I prayed.
I asked the Holy Spirit to help me see beyond the emotion—to guide me with the Gift of Wisdom. Not the wisdom of the world, but the kind that helps us align with God's heart. The kind that sees beyond this moment into eternity. That night, I visited my uncle in his hospital room. He was weak, but his eyes—his eyes still carried warmth and grace. I leaned in and, in silent prayer, I asked him, “Please help guide me. If you could speak for God right now, what would you want me to do?”
The next morning, I woke from a vivid dream. My uncle was smiling at me. There was no hospital bed. No tubes. Just peace. A quiet warmth surrounded him, and when I woke, my heart
felt unusually light. There was no hesitation anymore. I looked at my husband and said, “Let’s go. We’re going to the Philippines.”
And we did.
We witnessed the beauty of my cousin’s wedding—love celebrated, generations gathered, joy overflowing. My heart swelled with gratitude that we were there to be part of something so meaningful. It felt like a gift. But a few days after we arrived, I received the call—my uncle had passed away peacefully.
At that moment, I didn’t feel regret. I felt grace.
Whether some would call it coincidence or timing, I call it answered prayer. I believe the Holy Spirit truly showed me the path—not with a booming voice or flashing sign, but with a quiet dream, a peaceful heart, and the clarity to move forward.
Have you ever experienced an answer to prayer that came in an unexpected way—like a dream, a moment of peace, or something deeply personal?

The Gift of Wisdom is just that—a gift. It doesn’t always remove the pain or the hard choices. But it helps us rise above the fear and see with the eyes of God. It helps us make decisions not just for the present moment, but for the soul. And it reminds us that even in the uncertainty of life, we are being gently led.
This journey taught me to trust that guidance. That if we ask, God answers—sometimes in ways we least expect. I got to celebrate life and honor it. I got to say goodbye not in person, but in peace. That, to me, is wisdom in action.
Takeaway for You, Mama:
The next time you're stuck between two roads, remember this: God's wisdom isn't always loud, but it is always faithful. When we ask with a sincere heart, we can trust that He will lead us—even when the answer comes through tears, dreams, or peace.
